KAMI VOICE ~Voice Makes a Miracle~

Kami Voice ~Voice makes miracles~, a Japanese drama who will tell you all about seiyuu (Japanese voice acting), and of course, the actors here are a seiyuu.

Summary: Discovering their voices changed teenagers Yuu Shiraike (Yuki kaji) and Tatsuma Kubodera (Wataru Hatano)’s lives as the two are then on their way to stardom in the entertainment industry in becoming voice actors. Their super popular anime “RIVALIS”, has hundred and thousand viewers and fans from all over the world. However, due to an accident, both of them resign all of a sudden, and disappear from the voice acting world. Yuu ends up taking over as a teacher at a small voice acting academy, only to meet a bunch of unique but quirky students! In the process of granting their wishes to become good voice actors, it will also lead both Yuu and Tatsuma through a journey of self-discovery.

This drama adapted from a manga written by Yoshiki Sakurai and Team G.V and published by Kodansha in Monthly Shounen Rival Magazine. The main actors, Yuki Kaji as Yuu Shiraike and Wataru Hatano as Tatsuma Kubodera. Of course there are a lots of other seiyuu too, such as Roko Takizawa, Masako Nozawa, Keaton Yamada, Shigeru Chiba, Michio Hazama, Rikiya Koyama, Kouichi Yamadera, Mamoru Miyano, Hosoya Yoshimasa, Mayumi Tanaka, Morikubo Shoutarou, Namikawa Daisuke, Park Romi, Kamiya Hiroshi etc.

We can see another side of seiyuu in this drama. Coz we just know seiyuu (voice actor) do their works behind the scene, but this time, we can see them as the real actor. Same acting, but actually hard to act like the real actor, coz they have to express it properly with such expression and gestures. Even some of them were experienced act as actors like Mamoru Miyano or Watano Hataru.

I watched this drama over and over again. It always reminds me the spirit of learning about voice acting, and I’m impressed by it once again. I felt like I want to explore and learn about seiyuu, more and more, never enough for me, haha. I also learnt many things from this drama, and how to train myself in voice acting.
SEIYUU KA! Lovely Voice. Yes, this is the first work related to voice acting that I love. In this manga, I revealed how is voice acting school works, and about seiyuu’s career.

Summary: Hime Kino's dream is to one day perform voice acting like her hero, Sakura Aoyama, from the Lovely Blazer anime. So getting accepted to the prestigious Hiragi Academy Voice Actor Department is the first step in the right direction! but on her first day of class, she meets Sakura's grouchy son, Senri Kudou, who tells Hime that her voice is awful and Lovely Bizare is stupid. Hime will not let that stand unchallenged. she'll show everyone that she is a voice-acting princess, whether they like it or not!!

SEIYUU KA! Lovely Voice is a shoujo manga written by Maki Minami. The series started serialization in the 14th issueof the biweekly manga magazine Hana to Yume on June 20, 2009. This manga was so interesting to me, it’s not just about seiyuu though, comedy, romance and friendship also in it. I found that this manga also have Drama CD, but I couldn’t find it everywhere, except in Youtube but it only in a part. And I just knew Yuu Akasawa (Luka Megurine VOCALOID) who voicing Hime/Shiro, and Tomokazu Sugita for Kudou Senri’s role. That’s my first time hearing Yuu Akasaka’s boyish voice, not bad.

Hime actually has boyish voice, and people called it "Prince's Voice", this also been appeal for me, haha. But Hime always wanted to be able to voicing cute character with a cute voice, and, uhm, i kind of understand that feeling  :"3

My Story

How can I loved seiyuu very much ???

I started to know Seiyuu when I was in the high school, yes, and I was watching Prince of Tennis anime back then. I had a crush with Echizen Ryoma, LOL. And I love his voice. So when I’m searching for his voice actor, I was surprised in the fact his voice actor was a FEMALE. YES. It’s my first time in voice acting thing, and I never thought something amazing like that exist in voice acting. Obviously I started to stalking his voice actress, Minagawa Junko. I admired Echizen Ryoma’s voice a lot, it’s so cooooll! So suddenly I kind of wanted to imitate it, just tried and having fun. And I revealed soo many female voice actresses who have boyish or male voice besides Minagawa Junko, I’m so amazed.

Back then, I just listed and pay attention to that kind of female voice actress, but not so long, I started to like male voice actors too. Not many, just few of them. I knew Ono Daisuke, Kamiya Hiroshi etc. they’re so talented and good. And I was felt touched when I read Tetsuya Kakihara’s voice actor journey, how can he became a famous voice actor now. Yeah, I loved to read seiyuu’s journey. Then I knew a lot of Japanese male voice actors now, ww

I started to indulge myself more in Seiyuu’s world. Stalking them, watching so many seiyuu events, paying attention in their recording session and many more that makes my impress grows a lot. Since I love Echizen Ryoma’s voice, I kept imitating it, and I’ve been eager to kept practice, even just imitate it. Shortly, I also want to have boyish voice. Of course, don’t mention my Japanese or anything else, I just have willing and my own voice. But I didn’t force myself hard, coz I found practicing seiyuu is really fun! Yes, to be honest, it’s like I’m playing around, haha. So I started to record my voice when I’m practicing seiyuu. Was it difficult ?? YES. A LOT. I have to learn Japanese more by myself. Yeah, I quite felt lucky coz I had opportunity to learn Japanese when I was in Vocational High School, but just for one year, I don’t know why but it’s the fact. After that, I just keep learn Japanese until now. I also took a lot of information about seiyuu in social network. It said it’s the best way to record your own voice when practicing voice acting, so I did. Honestly, I like acting or do drama performance when I was in the middle school, but I didn’t took interest further, plus, I just a shy girl, but I kind of enjoy when I do drama performance back then. So I had so many problems, voice, acting, Japanese language (vocabulary, articulation, accent, etc), and many more. But because I like it, I just take it slowly and enjoying each practice. I just learnt many things from seiyuu’s recording session videos, and based information that I found in social network, until now. Just like that.

I didn’t have microphone or appropriate tools so I just use my phone recorder, yeah, low quality sound, ww. And unfortunately, my environment was too noisy to record my voice, but it doesn’t matter, yeah, even I often felt desperate about it, haha. Coz I lived in a small town, and we didn’t have such booth or studio here, except studio music for recording. And 4 years passed… I was surprised with myself, I kept practicing until now. But I didn’t regret at all   :D
When I look at back times, I always feel nostalgic. However, I still kept my seiyuu practice’s recording with me until now, even they’re bad, they’re still part of my learning process.

So, if you have something that you want to do, just do it.  ^_^
